Introducing our Strategy for 2025-2030

Today, we are pleased to release our Strategy for 2025-2030, which outlines our vision and goals for the Retail Energy Code (REC) and RECCo over the next five years.

You can read the document below or download it here. Share your thoughts via this feedback form. Feedback can be submitted until the 5th of February, 2025. If you’d prefer, you can also email any comments to recco_strategy@retailenergycode.co.uk

Developing our strategy document

Since establishing the REC, we have published a combined Strategy and Forward Work Plan annually. While these documents have generally been well-received, we wanted to provide stakeholders with greater transparency regarding our long-term strategy and the potential development of the REC.

Our mission statement and the REC’s objectives provide the guiding framework for our strategy.  We have established three Strategic Aims that help drive our strategic priorities, decision making and business planning process.

Our strategic aims

Our Strategic Aims are not wholly exclusive and will reinforce each other.

  • Perform: We will be a trusted, expert provider and enabler of code management and services.
  • Protect: We will safeguard consumers’ interests and data by providing digital services tailored to the retail energy market.
  • Progress: We will drive solutions and innovations to support an effective retail market for today and the future.

Our strategic priorities

The Strategic Aims inform our Strategic Priorities – specific areas of focus that we plan to address over the next five years. These priorities will shape our initiatives and the value we deliver to our stakeholders.

Our approach

We are committed to transparency and accountability in everything that we do. To ensure stakeholders can track our progress, we publish the following key documents throughout each year:

  • Our Forward Work Plan (scheduled for publication on 15th January 2025).
  • Our Budget (scheduled for publication in February 2025).
  • Quarterly Reports, which detail our progress toward the goals outlined in our Forward Work Plan and evaluate the performance of our service providers.
  • Our Annual Report, which offers a comprehensive review of our performance at the end of the year.

Respond to our consultation

We welcome your feedback and comments on our draft Strategy. Please use the questions below to help guide your response, which must be submitted by the 5th of February, 2025. You can respond via this online form here or by emailing recco_strategy@retailenergycode.co.uk

  • Do you agree with the proposed Strategic Aims? If not, please state your reason.
  • Do you agree with the proposed Strategic Priorities? If not, please state your reason.
  • Are there any additional factors that RECCo should consider in the development of the Strategy?

Following this consultation process, we will publish the final version of the Strategy document and Forward Work Plan in March 2025.
