The system is becoming more complex, data is moving faster and further, and consumers risk losing visibility and control unless a trusted and consistent model is in place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><strong>The call to action is straightforward: the market needs a unified consent solution that safeguards consumers while facilitating innovation.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>A clearer, simpler way for consumers to stay in control<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Consumer Consent Solution aims to do exactly that.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li><strong>One standard approach<\/strong> for consumers to say who can access their data and for what purpose<\/li>\n<li><strong>A common framework<\/strong> that Suppliers, Third Parties, and Tech Providers can all rely on<\/li>\n<li><strong>Secure and auditable data sharing<\/strong> that supports new services without compromising protection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The programme is being co-shaped by RECCo, with Ofgem, DESNZ, Service Partners, and wider stakeholders to keep the solution credible and practical.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>How the system will work<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We explored the core components. These include a <strong>Consent Management System<\/strong> that records and evidences permissions, a <strong>Trust Framework<\/strong>, and an <strong>Accreditation Model<\/strong>, so only trusted parties can access data and verify identities. This means consent can be confidently matched to the right person. The emphasis is on making consent journeys understandable and usable, not simply compliant. This framework will become a core retail function, supporting consistent consumer journeys as new services emerge.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Timeline: what to expect next<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The roadmap is already taking shape.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Requirements gathering is underway<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>Design Consultation<\/strong> is scheduled to launch in <strong>February 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A phased delivery will follow, targeting a <strong>Minimum Marketable Product<\/strong> in <strong>March 2027<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Industry support, testing, and guidance will run alongside development to build readiness from the outset<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><strong>The direction is clear: this is a long-term, collaborative programme and early industry involvement is key to its success.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>What we heard from the market<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An interactive discussion highlighted both enthusiasm and practical considerations. Stakeholders see strong opportunities to simplify consumer messaging, streamline processes, and create clearer routes to innovation.
